What can I expect during a treatment?

Whether you choose to have facial, foot or hand reflexology each treatment is bespoke. The first session starts with a consultation to assess your lifestyle, general health and medical history. This is completely confidential and designed to best assess your needs and design a treatment plan to achieve great results.

Treatments combine a deeply restorative experience with real health benefits. Reflexology rebalances all the systems of the body and can aid sleep, deep relaxation, lift your mood and promote a lasting sense of well-being for both men and women.

To gain the most benefit from reflexology it is recommended that you have 4-6 treatments on a weekly or fortnightly basis to begin with, followed by monthly appointments.

Foot (or hand) Reflexology

A wonderfully nurturing treatment for women and men, that promotes a profound state of relaxation and wellbeing. Reflexologists believe that the feet and hands have an intricate mapping system and that specific points are aligned with organs and the systems of the body. Working with the body’s energy zones, treatments are customised according to your needs. The aim is to unblock and elevate the energy systems of the physical, emotional and spiritual plains, unblocking the flow of energy to promote a state of homeostasis so the body can heal itself.

Facial Rejuvenation Reflexology

Just as on your feet and hands, the face holds a complex mapping system of pressure points that correspond to the systems of the body. Facial reflexology is a deeply relaxing and youthifying treatment that can support clients on multiple levels including relieving migraines, bruxism, bells palsy, sinus congestion, insomnia and anxiety. This nurturing treatment combines working pressure points along with Gua Sha facial massage to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue and increase blood flow. It helps to release tension and emotions held in the face, reduce stress, balance the systems of the body and lift the mood. As tension in the face is released the complexion looks and feels smoother and more toned, encouraging a glowing, healthy look.

Reflexology for conception, pregnancy and birth

One of the most popular and effective complementary therapies for women pre, during and post pregnancy. It is a nurturing, natural and simple way of helping your body through the pregnancy journey from fertility issues, to the discomforts associated with pregnancy and preparation for birth. The Association of Reflexologists says, “Nearly everyone can benefit from having reflexology during pregnancy.” Reflexology is becoming more commonly accepted and used in the NHS with many midwives now recommending it to help their patients through pregnancy. We often treat couples through these months to create the most balance and harmony in the home.

Reflexology for infertility

Regular reflexology can be especially potent for those with fertility issues - often an emotionally exhausting, stressful and expensive condition. The treatment not only induces a deep state of calm and positivity, it can also regulate hormonal imbalances and the menstrual cycle, as well as remove toxins and relieve anxiety around becoming pregnant. Reflexology encourages all the systems of the body to function efficiently.
It is an excellent aid for IVF treatment, because reflexology puts the body in prime condition to receive and fertilise the eggs. Science supports the efficacy of reflexology for fertility - it has been investigated in an approved medical trial in the UK. The two-year clinical trial resulted in 50 % of the group, who had a range of infertility problems, becoming pregnant (13 women in a trial group of 26)

Currently, one in seven couples suffers from infertility, and 30% of those are not producing eggs. Reflexology can be used for most of the cycle but may be most helpful between menstruation and ovulation.

Postnatal Reflexology

The birth of your baby is both exciting and life changing. It can also be an exhausting time for both parents, especially the mother, bringing broken nights and poor quality sleep just at the time when your body needs to recover and regenerate. Breast feeding is often not as easy as we would wish. Reflexology can support you on this new adventure. It helps to rebalance the body and hormones, aids relaxation and sleep and can really work to improve your mood and promote a sense of wellbeing as your menstrual cycle returns to normal. Lactation can also be vastly improved. We also recommend treating the father through this period, who may also be suffering from sleep deprivation and stress, to ensure both partners are in the best state to provide a harmonious home environment.

Reflexology for Menopause

The Menopause is a natural change in the female reproductive system when the ovaries stop producing oestrogen and progesterone hormones. It normally occurs between the ages 45 and 55, although peri-menopausal symptoms can start much sooner and last for up to ten years. Menopause can be a tricky time to navigate, as the body reacts to the loss of hormones. Symptoms can include everything from hot flushes and night sweats, to memory loss, poor concentration, tiredness, depression, weight gain and anxiety.

Reflexology can provide vital support through this intense change, helping both the physical and emotional symptoms of the menopause by regulating the peripheral nervous system and rebalancing hormones, helping to relieve stress and improve your mood and sense of well-being.

After your treatment

Following a treatment you might experience effects which are a positive sign that your body is detoxing and healing itself. These may include:- increased urination and bowel movements, different sleep patterns, tiredness, headaches and mood swings. These symptoms are temporary and a general sense of well-being will follow.
